Our second night of Kids in the Kitchen at the Salvation Army involved going out into the neighborhood with chicken noodle soup and mini cheesecakes.
We started the evening with a reading from Deuteronomy 24:16-21: God reveals himself as a sharing and generous God when he commands his people to leave wheat, olives, and grapes for those who might be in need of food. We determined that God wants to live his life out through us in Christ so that we, too, might be a sharing and generous people.
So, out into the neighborhood we went with the soup and cheesecakes they made and froze last week. The boys were excited and enthusiastic to share with neighbors...neighbors were excited and enthusiastic to receive the gifts... and our young cooks were excited and enthusiastic to come back at the end of the night to get a taste their creative goodness!
