Some of the guys played some football in the park after lunch.
Some of Orchard Hill's high schoolers came to serve at PIP today!
I love that there is a place for even the youngest among us to serve at PIP!
The 2011 season of Picnic in the Park is winding down. We had a beautiful fall day in Lincoln Park yesterday as we shared homemade chili and rootbeer with 200 people.
Orchard Hill's Route 55 Seniors joined in to serve, some of our high schoolers came, as well as a small group from neighboring church, Heartland Vineyard. The children had a grand time playing football, decorating cookies, chalk drawing, and coloring while adults served and shared a meal at the many picnic tables.
As a part of Harvest's worship service, Tabitha gave a powerful testimony of the love and power of Christ to transform lives, and Cliff shared about how individuals and the collective Church is called to reach out and be salt and light in our community.
As I roamed through PIP yesterday, I loved watching people come together across race, class, age, denominations...all the many barriers that tend to keep us apart from one another. I believe very strongly that this coming together will be a necessity for the Church as Christ leads us into his work of reconciliation and justice in both our local and global community.
